Rural area Provincial Directors meeting in Richmond

Rural area Provincial Directors meeting in Richmond  is a day and a half long meeting.  Good meeting to bring  the many  EAD’s  problems and some feel isolated or may not know that there are better ways to do things. It is a networking information gathering time that allows EAD’s to concentrate on their issues.  UBCM also does this but it involves so many larger picture things and deals with large communities cities etc so the interaction between EAD’s it is watered down(for rural areas). In this conference it deals with EAD’s issues.
What are we talking about:  Water issues, gravel pits, drinking water for small systems (2-25 users), Compensation for BC Hydro Transmission & Distribution lines in the rural areas and concerns making  water into a commodity. The Province explained how the new Natural Resource Agency Restructuring is going to work and why it was restructured. Emergency Management of BC; what it is they do Provincial Emergency Program, Office of the Fire Commissioner, Flood Mitigation program and BC Coroners in rural BC.To mention a few of the concerns we have.
