Franklin Rock

In my passing through Hope; I have found an interesting plac,e maybe forgotten by many of us. Franklin Rock is just out side of Yale (north of Hope 20 kms?) as you go up the Fraser Canyon. And why pray, tell would it be called Franklin rock? Many years ago ..in 1845 the Franklin expedition was last heard of. Many expeditions were sent out to find him. Eventually the remains were found in 1880, how ever before that, his wife Lady Franklin persisted looking for him on the Pacific Coast (where he was to eventually arrive). In her determination she decided to search up the Fraser River. When she reached this massive black rock with the strength of all the waters that flow from the interior rivers, that go past a narrow rock passage. It would be about 40 meters wide, all the water that feeds the lower Fraser River goes through this channel. You can reach it by taking the last road out of Yale turn right (on the old highway) a kilometer or so up the canyon and the intense power of water. There are the scratches in the rock from a great power medicine man but that is another story!
